Question about side mirrors

So when I bought my mark, this is how my side mirror was

But I found a guy selling fairly cheap parts and the side mirror he has seems to have the black outer part cracked. Can I use the painted part and swap it onto mine? I have never taken a side mirror apart so I am not entirely sure how it all goes together.

Yes you could combine the new painted shell with your good black trim. The black trim is secured underneath the glass with a few torx screws

Take the two apart and make one good one. It can be done!
