the main bulb in my rear passenger tail light melted into the assembly, imposible to remove, so i'm forced to purchase an all new assembly. i was considering switching to the two-tone tail lights that LS Koncepts offers, but wanted to check something first - do these dislpay the reverse lights in the white area, or would it still only be my lights around the license plate?

thanks. so do the white areas of the two-tone lights light up at all? just for looks?

yes they are amber bulbs but the number is 7507 which is a european bulb number. they look like a 1157 but the alingment pins are diffrent

How did you know about the reverse lights?

The one's on LSKoncepts don't but I do know of a couple pairs that do. They were actually off the original LS concept cars in 1999. I was going to keep a set as a collector's item from a guy I know. I never called him back, I hope he didn't junk them - he was about to then but I asked him to hold on to them. Let me know if you're interested. The lights are the opposite from the LS Koncepts version, the clear part is on the bottom instead of the top and they are already fitted to place the reverse lights in there. The only problem is that you will have to wire the reverse lights there yourself.

I'd like to see these. Shoot me an email and I'd like see what those are about.

yeah if your friend still has them in his possession, i'd be interested in seeing some pics. i'd love for my reverse lights to be on the assembly and not next to the license plate, the only problem with that though, is what do you do with the original reverse lights? leave em or take them off and fill in the empty space? anyone ever do this before?

I'm crossing my fingers that my buddy still has them. If so, I'll post pictures. As far as the rear, there was a post last year from a member that had several renditions of how the rear end of the car could be altered. It's on here somewhere, I'm sure somebody remembers the post. It was a very nice rendering.

Guys, I had it wrong, I just talked to my buddy. Here's the story, the lights are from one of the original prototypes. But, they're not like the LS Koncepts lights. They are just the lid mounted lights. Originally, the reverse lights were placed inside those the lid mounted tails and bottom parts of those are clear and already molded for the reverse light bulbs. He's a trucker and picked them out of the discard can when he passed through Detroit knowing I had an LS. He says they had all kinds of prototype tails discarded at the time but they're most likely all gone now. He's going to bring them by this weekend. I'm still very curious as to what they look like and still think they'll be a nice novelty item. I'll post pictures as soon as I get them. I told him to let me know next time he makes a run through there. My guess is that they probably have other interesting prototype parts discarded for the more recent models of the LS. I don't know why they would discard them in the first place.

Got the two tails from my buddy. Looks like he was looking at them upside down once I matched them up to mine (he's not an LS owner). However, they do have in fact appear to be prototypes. They have the reverse light holes like was originally asked. Check the pictures out. I have never seen the others before, do they all have two holes like this?

the standard tail lights for the 00-02 models have 3 holes, for main lights, parking lights and brake lights.

since we're still on the subject, what have you guys done to solve this problem of the parking light bulb melting into the light? i can't get the bulb out no matter what i try and i'm hesitant in heating up the plastic because it might warp it even further. if buying a new tail light doesn't ultimately solve this issue what does?

That's the deck mounted tail light, not the quarter mount. The quarter mount has 3 holes. As far as the melted quarter light bulb you have, can you break the bulb in any way? I typically have to change mine because the bulb has melted a hole into the light and rain or other water seeps in to cause the light to burst.

yea man.. i had the same thing happen to me.i cant get the bulb out, and i have no idea what i`m gonna do when it bulb goes bad. that too also is what caused the assembly to trap water. it melted and formed a crack so i had to just fill it with some high heat silicone and its been good. still wondering what to do about that bulb though. :-s

The two-tone lights I sell do NOT have the top socket. It is merely a reflector. The ones you have there looks to be an experiment on adding the back up lights to those tail lights. Pretty cool idea if they were going to eliminated the license plate surround with the back up lights. On the 00-02 LS deck lid lights, only the middle of the lamp has lights and it is only parking lights. It is NOT part of the brake lights.

How many of those did you get?
