Hey guys. I just got home from scanning my to be Mark. It has an SES light, and I was told it needed the smog pump. I don't have specific codes because I had nothing to write them down with at the time, but it had something about incorrect flow, and some incorrect data for engine RPM and the PRNDL, which was working (?). Also something about the dimmer switch having a fault in the circuit, which also seemed to be working, and the tilt wheel position sensor having a fault in the circuit (the switch didn't seem to work in all positions, it would move out a little, stop and retract a hair). I know its vague, but I'm just trying to get an idea what I'm going to have to put into her.... and how many parts Jamie is going to have to ship up North ;)

Have you had the codes cleared? If not, read them again and write stuff down. Then clear drive car till CEL pops back up and reread.

Well I don't have it in my possession yet. I'm supposed to be picking it up Saturday night, if all goes as planned. I cant clear them, as I need to get it inspected, but it cant get a sticker with the SES light on. So, I need to get it fixed to the point where the light isn't on, then get it inspected.

One problem your gonna have is you have to drive car roughly 75 miles after its fixxed to get the cars computer OBD2 compliant. Like mentioned I like to run codes now, write down, clear. Then drive car till CEL comes back on then read what is affecting car right now. Sometimes the computer pops up a code that is not a real problem and you don't want to fix anything but a real code. PS buy a cheap code scanner.

I work for a GM dealer and purchased a very NOT cheap code scanner from our Snap On dealer.

Anyway, as far as I know, the only issue to pop the MIL, is the air pump code. I'm going back to the kids house to look at it again tomorrow morning, and will make sure I write down the specific codes.

Anything from the Snap-on guy is "very NOT cheap " LOL One other reason why I like my 1993 it does not come with a smog pump.

Yeah, that seems pretty pointless, but it is what it is I guess.

OH. Anyone have a column they want to sell me? It seems my tilt/telescoping features don't quite work correctly, and yes, this will irritate the :q:q:q:q out of me!!!!

andy if you still have the olds on the road, and want to ship the column down to me i will take it apart and fix it for you and ship it back, unless you planned on putting it on the road asap.

Well, the Olds is going Saturday night, and then after that is gone, I'm going to illegally attach my plates to the Mark and drive it until I can get it fixed to get the SES off and register it.

Well, good news. All those codes are history codes, except that incorrect airflow which I assume is for the pump. The wheel still has full motion, just the switch is temperamental. Other then that, its just small interior issues, but those are to be expected I guess with a vehicle with that many miles, and of this age. There is a rust spot on the drivers door, but that is the only rust on the body. It was never driven in the winter, so the undercarriage is surprisingly clean.
