I have an 03 and have had a few coils replaced under the extended warranty (up to 100,000 miles). Well, right now I'm at like 99,900 miles and I can feel the engine missing and it's definitely another coil. I checked and it appears that there is also some oil in the plug well (leaky valve cover gasket)

So I called my local dealer and they said they couldn't get in me until Friday. I tried a couple other places and the earliest I can get is Thursday.

I commute about 60 miles a day so doing the math, 5x60 = 300 miles a week. I'll have somewhere around 100,200 miles by Friday when I drop it off. I'm assuming the deal will be total diks and tell me I'm over the 100,000 limit. Anyone have experience with this? If I prove the problem is before the 100,000 mile limit will they cover it under the extended warranty?

Is there a way around this other than getting a rental car? Also, is that even cost effective? I'm more concerned about the valve cover gasket than I am about the coil cuz I've replaced my fair share of coils. About how much does a deal charge for VCG?

You should be able to find some contact information on your service contract paperwork. I would give them a call directly and document everything. For the most part (just like insurance) they look for ways to get out of paying. Remenber, most dealers want the work even though they get less than retail from the service contract provider.

Thanks XFord...Unfortunately I don't have the paperwork as I'm the third owner of the car. I called Ford a while ago to see if I could receive the letter as I am the current owner they said they would only mail to the original owner.

well since you have 100 miles until your warranty runs out, i would just rent a car bro, it will be a whole lot cheaper than paying for the job after the warranty runs out.

even if you call them before hand, and they say they will cover it, they might not, ive seen a lot of dealers do everything they can to not foot the bill

quick update: I contacted the dealer n told em by the time they could get me in id be over 100,000 miles. they basically said too bad. I contacted ford directly n the guy was extremely helpful. he called the dealer n they were able to make an exception for me. I had to take the car in for them to write down the mileage confirming I was under 100,000 wen I "filed my complaint." By doing so, they will fix any valve cover/coil issues wen I take it in eventho its over 100,000.
