This car feels really tight. A good quality build feel. Quiet. Smooth riding. Nimble steering. With only a 4 cylinder turbo, this car eats up the road. This car is fast and can maintain speeds easily. My V6 LS could not come close to this car in power production and acceleration. Problems are that the engine sounds like a sewing machine. Flawless transmission shifting, nothing feels cheap, no rattles either. The electronics are a bit over done and confusing. Everything is touch sensitive and overly sensitive in some areas. Pretty cool back up camera shows your turn angle while in reverse. Flawlessly quiet A/C system. Seats are firm. This car feels so solid, I would recommend it. RWD also. My only wish is that they were less expensive. $33k for the 4Cyl $50k for the 6Cyl.

What I didn't like, small trunk, needed a smoother ride like my LS (maybe a change of tires would help), no radio mute button like the LS. The electronic center is lame. The radio sound quality is lame for such an expensive car. Seats could use more cushion. Due to styling, there are some blind spots behind the driver.

I would buy a used one to replace my LS. But not for a few more years.

Everyone I have heard from says they like the 2.0L turbo with the manual transmission as the best package. The V6 is a pretty mean machine, 321 HP if I'm correct, and it sounds really nice and aggressive under acceleration compared to the 4 Cylinder models. Personally I would really want the 3.6L model but not for $50K, I would probably wait a couple years after the resale value goes down if I really wonted to get one. I also hear that the CTS in all trims including V-Sport are really good! It seems that their whole line up is well received by the consumers and their least liked model is the XTS and I say it's because it's not a fitting flagship and doesn't come close to being a good enough replacement for the 2 cars it did replace, the DTS and STS.

My dad leased a 2.0 T auto last year. The engine tech is sick: direct injection, VVT, ECM that adjusts performance based on 87-93 octane. (Difficult for turbo cars.)
272 hp from turbo doesn't sound like a lot, but with the new 6-speeds the gear spacing is really aggressive. Result is a car that yanks you back into your seat and still gets mid to high 20s in mpg.
Handles amazingly well and feels super tight like OP mentioned. This is a fantastic car.

You guys should be over on the cad side making all this whoopty.;)

KS
I think the Caddy side needs to be updated, there's no spot there for the ATS there, and I mean being as Lincoln doesn't make a car like the LS anymore many of the LS guys are considering cars like the ATS.

The rental lot said I could put either reg or premium gas in it. I chose premium. Only got 23 MPG over 500 miles, city and highway. I kept her at 85 on the highway, no sweat. This little engine had lots of punch. Not like the old 4 cylinders out there. I would love to try the V6. The electronics were those touch panel screen and touch knobs, neither responded well. Sometimes it got confused. The key fob was remote start, with push button interior start. But how do you listen to the radio without the engine running? WTF? I think they forgot something. An annoying cadillac ad came on the touch screen everytime you entered the car. How to turn that crap off? Almost too many multi-use switches, that wear out prematurely. If I bought this car to replace the LS, I would get the stripped down model without the fancy electronics. Just need the basics and a fast engine.

funny, i just tested an ATS with the turbo too... the awd version i drove accelerates very freely.
i found the electronics overdone.. there was a little zig in the road and i got this red light projected into the windshield and a full body vibration through the seat... guy said it thought i was drifting and decided to wake me up.. he said older people are completely overwhelmed by it and i can definitely see why, you know with the powers that be listening in via on star, tracking your location via the gps, and probably even able to accelerate and brake remotely... on the bright side you get $100 just for test driving! check out cadillac.com. dealer knew all about it. expires march 31 or while supplies last

WOw, yeah, i noticed the onstar button and voice control. Doubt if i would want someone watching me in that car. They might report my driving to my insurance co.! Open the hood and look inside. You see additional welding around the strut houseings, strange. Electric fan and large working gap between radiator and engine. Very nice to have all that room to work. All the crazy hoses are gone too! My LS looks like spaghetti, with all the hoses. But like I said, driving my LS today, the ride is so nice!

Oh that's a bunch of BS, I've owned GM vehicles my whole life and never once did they do anything shady or report me to anyone, you'll be happy when someone steels your car you worked so hard to buy and they can get it back for you. I think Onstar is more a way for them to get you to pay them more money like those stupid extended warranty's. I don't pay for it, I just use the 2 or so year free trial they give you and that's it. Most people don't pay for a subscription.

Wait, where'd the sun go? Sure got SHADY around here.

well it doesn't surprise that with technology like that they can spy on you, I'm just saying I've never had a problem and believe me I don't drive the speed limit most of the time, I doubt Onstar is the only one that does it, every auto maker has a comparable system and GPS what nots. It's probably newer cars after 2005 as the old system for Onstar the signals are dead due to the digital system they use now. My CTS is like that and can't be converted to the digital system.

no offense to the people that responded, but the general outlook of many people is so short sighted and downright dumb when it comes to basic security. any invasion of your freedom and privacy is just one step closer to your enslavement because every one your rights is intertwined with the others. there are agencies and companies that are collecting all of this data, what if they lose it or sell it and it ends up in the hands of someone who wants you dead? what if our government, which has simply yet to 'formally' enslave us, is toppled and we are occupied by some unruly regime? all of the infrastructure is in place.. in other words your cage is already built, all they gotta do is slip a padlock on the door and youre fcked.

if i was an evil guy (im not) trust that i could kill you and get away with it if i had just one months worth of your gps data... i dont even need control of your car, cellphone feeds, internet traffic or even your credit card statements and grocery store tracking card. a gps in your car can be used to make a map of everywhere you have ever been... everywhere you go... where you eat sleep shower shave pss n sht.

and if you think that there arent multiple 3 n 4 letter agencies with the ability to track you down and follow you around even without that data youre sadly mistaken. theyre 5 mins from you right now if youre in a top 30 metro and your cellphone is nearby. (maybe even smaller metros, my knowledge is limited)

Well Im not offended, and I fully hear what you're saying, I don't like the fact they do this, but I'm not about to give away my $50,000+ vehicle to which I still owe quite a bit of money on because of this. I think it's not so much that we are alright with them doing it, it's just that we are not thinking about it when we buy these things and we are only concerned with the cool things they can do.

No need to sell, just disconnect the antenna, and it doesn't work anymore. It already doesn't work when you drive under a roof, so the antenna is REALLY needed for it to work.

If that 50K vehicle is a GM product, I know that at least as new as 2009 could be special ordered without OnStar which means it should be possible to order a new roof panel that doesn't have the antenna holes in it. It would cost a bit, but you could have an unblemished vehicle with no satellite antenna to mar its appearance.
