push button start

It would be pretty easy to do, but there would be a few things that may cause issues. For one the key detector may have to be set to always on. So you will always get a door chime. Second you need to disable the steering lock, and it will never lock again. Otherwise its not too hard since there is no PATS like on a Gen II.

do you know the wiring schematics very well on this? I got the block of wires taken off... and there is a ton of wires for it

I would not worry about wires until you figure out the steering lock. I think it also has a sensor to monitor its position - NOT sure though.

I have wanted to get a push button start installed also. But I have not looked too deep into it.

Another idea I had was to use the trunk latch electric release as the start trigger. That way the factory remote could start the car. Also one could enter the entry code on the keypad followed by a 5 to start the car. To do so I would tie it into a remote start system.

I heard a rumor that they made PATS push button start kit...

Anybody know about that?

I'm just trying to figure out why you would want to go through the trouble of not turning a key, just to push a button and start it. That's just me though. I'm sure I do things people don't understand too lol.

you do realize that most the newer lincolns have push button start... it would aslo be a hack if i wasn't taking my time just to get it done

most of the newer lincolns...you hacking something in a car that never had it...its ricer...ricers do stuff to be different and end up looking like idiots

what if your gas pedal gets stuck and you cant turn the car off thru the push start because it has to be held for x seconds.............and are too dumb to move the shifter to neutral........

:D

I have to find the link for the kit that actually uses transponder keys like the new Vettes and such...

ok negative nancy, one more time i will say this, it will not be a hack job because i am taking my time to do it right, and my car is not even remotely close to a ricer,
thanks for the input tho nancy

I think that any car that has keys and push button start is ricer... hence the transponder key setup, that is slick as hell and not ricer at all...

It is a radio transponder key, when you get close enough to the car it activates everything, the doors unlock, accessories come on, and the push button start works...

The new Vettes, most new Nissans, Honda S2000 and a number of other new cars use it...

I say if you do it in good tasted like the crystal start button on the aston martin
go for it

I don't get it... adding push button start isn't going to make you do any of the things in that video...
