process for taking out center console?

process for taking out center console? For some reason, i cant get my shifter to go into SST mode because the little plate in there is loose. I gotta take apart the console....n e one know the proper way of doing this?

on my 02 you take out the ashtray it just lifts up and then pop out the ashtray surround just pull it out and then the large center console piece comes out by pulling straight up. you may need to have your car out of park to clear the shift knob.

not quite correct.

For an 02, you would need to pull back on the toppart of the rear center console vents. The vents that face the rear seat. The vent/rear section should then pop completely out/off.

You will then need to pop up/off the wood trim around the front center console ashtray. You should then be able to lift straight up on the center console, unplug the traction control button, then remove the console altogether.

should be the exact same process...from what I recall when I had my 2000 V6

Take out the ashtray, then take off the wood around the heated seats buttons, then remove the rear AC vents (they snap right off) It shoudl just be free now and you can move it around. In order to remove it from the car oyu need to un-do the ABS cord and also the cell phone wires.
