I have the 1996 lsc and the transmission went out suddenly, my rpm gauge goes backwards, the dash buttons like the fuel economy and systems check all dont work, my headlights blow ass and one of them is out, and my car even before the transmission went out runs like crap. anybody know where i can get a new transmission for kinda cheap? or any input on the electrical?

gee, where you want to start...96 means it has lots of one-year specific parts on it, so if it is a basket case, you'd almost be better off parting it-IMRC's, VCRM, ECU are all specific to a 96, and the LSC trim is desirable to some 96 owners (like me:D )-

I would think you'd be able to get a trans from any mark and install it, just might have to be re-pinned-the odd tach is probably some sort of weird electrical gremlin, how's your battery? These things need plenty of good CLEAN electrical connections and a good batt/alternator.

Headlights that blow can be fixed fairly cheaply, lots of good posts on here going back years., it doesn't sound like that is a priority in your case.

Check the voltage at the battery when the car is running. It should be from 13.5-14.4 volts.
