ok i got my car serviced at a ford dealership about about a month and a half ago because there are no lincoln dealerships around my car has 65000 miles on it and i was just goin to get a tune up because the car had been acting funny... i got my tune up finished and it still ran like :q:q:q:q:mad: so i take it back and i ask them whats the problem and they say i need two ignition coils.. an i know i should have looked on the forum before doing this but i wasnt thinkin so i buy the ignition coils for 100 a piece ..i know big mistake i found out they are way cheaper anywhere else.. so they replace them an it still runs like :q:q:q:q.. so i gave them a piece of my mind an decided just to leave and not come back...

why would they charge me 100 dollars for one ignition coil when they are cheaper in other places... and i also read on the forums somewhere that if you change out the ignition coils you have to change all of them or it wont work like it should...do you think the dealership is :q:q:q:qed doing that ..because they should know that all of them need to be replaced at once...

i need to know what i should do from here ive been tryin to avoid driving the car but it is my DD... does anyone have any input/suggestions

thanks in advance

Not that you need to change the coils all at once, but since you're already in there, why not? They tend to fail at about the same time. So you're going to be changing a coil or 2 every few months until they are all replaced anyways, might as well save some labor cost and get them all done at once.

They charged you list price. Don't ever pay list price for parts. Find it cheaper, and tell the dealer what you can get the parts for. Hopefully they will match it. If not, buy the cheaper priced OEM parts from one of the 2 vendors onthe right side of the page (max at fivestar is the one I personally use, although both are good vendors), and bring you car to a trusted mechanic to perform the work.

Oh, and what did they charge you for a "tune-up", and what did it consist of? plugs and an air filter?

the tune up was 130 i think idk what it consisted of ... but i realized a couple of days ago that i went about the whole thing all wrong i should have researched it first before i went to the dealership...i had problems like really low acceleration and loud engine noise... so i was told by everyone that i needed a tune up so thats what i did... i dont really know alot about engines so they got me that time...

FYI you can buy all 6 new cops from Alenisdeals on ebay. I bought the set for like 140 dollars. You need to see if your sparkplug wells are full of oil from the valve covers leaking. The oil shorts out the coil. Its a very very common problem on all LS's. The drivers side super easy pass side top of intake has to come off to get to those 3.
