has anyone put one in
I came across a problem the SVT pump is shorter than the stock one
was wondering if the 98 is a little different
maybe if the top part was flat across the top (Pic 2)
I have some ideas on how to fix it but would like more
If the 98 basket is different then does someone have one for cheap

What you're taking out doesn't look like the stock pump to me.

However, I do see what you're talking about in your second pic.

My top two pics are from my '98, the bottom two pics are from a '97 that I worked on.

On every Gen 2 that I've seen, those two connections are even.

Why can't you use the basket top from the Focus assembly? I have seen posts where people did that.

the top of the focus basket is different the bottom is the same
I was thinking of using the non stepped piece from the focus but it
has a check valve on the top would that be ok and if I do that can I use normal
fuel hose to replace the clear plastic stuff (I dont think It will survive when it comes off)
The pump in there is a denso unit

I've never done it, sorry. But if you do try it, make sure that you use hose designed to be immersed in gasoline, not normal external fuel hose.

Why not just use your stock basket? That's what I did.

Im trying to use the stock basket but the new pump is shorter than the stock one
As you can see in pic #2 there is a step to allow for a taller pump. I was wondering if i could use the focus one (has check ball in top) or if someone had a 98 assembly here for cheap.

I don't think that was the stock pump either.. I did the focus pump also and had no issues.

I think it is stock it looks like the one in the Tec section

Im going to try and use the new hose and check valves from the focus basket.

I used the check valve and hose also. I put it in a pot iv water on the stove until I could get it apart and the clamped it back on.

I wish I would have done that.
I use a heat gun at work it melted a little but should be fine i think.

97 did you also use the focus pump top that connects to that hose?

I used the mark fuel hat. Slid the black rubber piece off the stock pump and put it on the focus pump.
I also replaced the sending unit with the focus one. Swapped over the float arm. I believe the focus sending unit swung the other way.

I used the stock basket and had no problems and I do not remember which rubber bottom piece I used though, the Mark one or the Focus one.
