It's getting cold so I tried using my heat today. No matter how high I put it on it sounds like the heat is being blocked somewhere. As I put the fan on higher I hear it but it sounds like it's hitting something before it gets to the vents. Nothing comes out of the vents. If I turn on the AC cold air comes out no problem, but hot air will not come out. Is this a problem with the blend door?

I think it might have some thing to do with the blend door, have you tried messing with the stuff under the dash maybe tapping it or have you fixed it

Well I'm really not to sure where to start. I don't have the money to go have it looked at or I would.

Go to "markviii.org" and on the home page look for "technical information", and then "blend door". It will give you the whole story and an emergency fix.

Those are for gen 2. Sorry didn't mention I had a gen 1. And it's not that hot air never comes out of my vents, no air at all comes out. It's only with the heat not the A/C.

I would say the blend door actuator motor, but you should still have air coming out if that were broken, just cold. Gen I's use a motor that is behind the information center behind the dash. They have internal plastic gears which will eventually strip rendering the unit useless.
I would check to see if you have a vacuum problem at the back of the climate control unit. It is very easy to remove. If that does not work I would try swapping out the climate control unit with a junkyard unit as these have been known to fail. It is difficult to diagnose without seeing the car.
Whatever you do, do not take it to a Lincoln dealer or a possible easy fix might cost more than your car is worth.

I Forgot about the self test on the climate control unit. I believe the correct procedure is to press the floor and off button at the same time, then press auto a few seconds later to start the test. The system will not run during the test. This is how I diagnosed the blend door motor problem on my 96.

In my mark air doesnt blow very hard out of any of the vents, but defrost feels strong. No difference between heat and a/c. Would this be a blend door problem?

redhotmark96. The defult for when the HVAC is inop is for the system to blow defrost at full, I would try a new unit, just get one from e-bay for a 93-96 like 50 to 100 buck's.

Can anyone comments on how to go about checking for a vacuum leak? I'm still lost and it's not getting any warmer.

Take a flexible tube (1/4 diameter) or an automotive stethoscope and move it around the engine bay (around the brake boost and vacuum lines) till you hear a sucking, hissing sound.
