The majority of residential flats booked in the city of Kochi are owned by Keralites living abroad. NRI can be said to be the backbone of all investments in Kochi including residential flats. The regular investment of these NRIs, sustain the current boom in property.

There are builders who exclusively build projects catering for the tastes of the NRIs. Premium residential flats and apartments in Kochi cater specifically to the aesthetics of the NRI.

NRIs living abroad mostly live in highly urbanized ultra modern and busy cities surrounded by skyscrapers and motorways. Hence, most NRIs prefer premium, luxury waterfront Kochi flats that offer great view and ambience while offering great appreciation in value.

Kakkanad is another one of Kochi’s most preferred residential destination. This is primarily due to its proximity to the Smart City and other IT parks and projects. A great number of residential building projects are currently in the process of completion with prices ranging from 47 lakh to one crore for a three bedroom flat.

Places to look out for are Puthiyakavu, beyond Thripunithura and Chottanikkara where land values will show much appreciation after the airport-seaport road is completed. Thripunithura, Kakkanad and Alwaye are already considered the best investment destinations in Kochi. Many other places in the vicinity of the city are expected to show great appreciation in the next year or so. Some of these are Puthiyakavu, and Chottanikkara.
