What do you guys do for pre-emptive maintenance?

I do my oil changes at 5000KM, I make sure engine bay is clean, I put in the best fuel, I clean brake dust off rims, and I make sure interior is super clean...and make sure all the liquids are fresh and filled up.

Is there anything simple I can do that I'm missing, good pre-emptive maintenance? I just want to keep on avoiding problems as much as I can. I have a 2006 LS.

fluids are number one.

also serpentine belt, belt tensioner, spark plugs, and the plastic cooling parts are good to replace before needed.

You may want to inspect the underside for early signs of ...gasp...rust. My 2002 is showing some surface rust on the bottom of the chassis. (I have since taken steps to minimize the impact), but it is a reality in this climate . Keep it clean and salt free.

Yes the car will probably fail mechanically well before it falls apart from rust, but rust just sucks!!

Mines a 00 and I don't have much rust.. Really small amount underneath.. Just at the pinch weld but that can be expected.. Its the lift point when putting it on a hoist..

Move south!

You can move to the sunny south to avoid the salt and winters! No more rust to deal with! My 01 looks like new underneath. Heat related problems can be a bitch down here in the summer. Otherwise the cars are clean!

Two things most people overlook on a car. Transmission and rear differential service.

But I think someone said it best: "selling it, the best pre-emptive maintenance you can preform". I think he meant "perform", but I'm not in a nitpicking mood today. :p
