It seems I always get the weird ones.
Here goes
Its on my 97, sometimes the drivers window works, sometimes it won't.
Yesterday we got into the 80s so yep my drivers window decided it won't go down.
I was thinking it was the switch...until yesterday.
I could hear a click click in the door panel when I hit the switch.
Then it was clicking without me hitting the switch.
I was at a red light, I also noticed it pulled the engine rpm down about 100 rpm each time it "clicked"
Frickin weird.

I got home and call Brandon, because he knows everything, or so he tells me.
He tells me how to get the door panel off and I found the source of the click.
Its coming from the black box that all the wiring goes to..it has your code on it for key-less entry.
I was going to see if I had power to the window motor but ran out of time, put the door panel back on and bingo...the dam window is working again.
The clicking is gone...the rpm stays the same on the engine.

Window is also stuck in fast mode it will only go up or down super fast...so if you want the window to be in a certain spot you have to keep pushing up then down real fast to try to get the dam thing to stop were you want it.

Anyone else ever run into this?

I guess next step is wait for the clickin to start...have the window fail and check for power at the window motor.
Or just replace this dam "magic" black box.

I hate this kind of crap.

Sounds to me like you have a bad connection of some sort, probably from moisture working it's way into the connector on that module. Either that or it's a bad ground.

Bad grounds are always a PITA to find but will cause all kinds of weird issues.

I'd say that module probably grounds somewhere in the drivers side kick panel but I'm not for sure. I'd pull the kick panel and look for ground connections there, if you find them, make sure they're not rusty and that they are tight, if it's rusty, clean them with a wire brush and re-secure them.

Beyond that, I really can't say, i'm not very familiar with that particular module.

ill add what ive seen/learned/done on all ford vehicles.
first, when the window doesnt work, hold the button and slam the snot out of the door. this will free up a sticking motor, sometimes. if that doesnt work then proceed to step 2

second, unplug the motor, using a small screw driver, put it into one of the pins then using a test light put the clip onto the screwdriver and insert the probe end into the other side of the connector, kinda simulating the motor, check the switch in both positions. this will check the power and ground side of the circuit. also swing the door while doing this if all appears ok, than you need a motor if the test light goes out you most likely have a bad wire, see step 3.

third, ive seen many many broken wires in the accordion tube in the door jamb. i cut the tape away from the loom close to the tube, and gently pull on the wires, its easy to find the broken ones cuz they will pull out. when it comes time to fix those wires cut the broken wire back inside the door, solder, heat shrink to a new wire, i undo both ends of the tube insert a straw to help sliding the wire through, remove straw and complete the circuit make sure that the splices are not in the tube as it wont flex as good as a wire can ad you can see how well that works

hope this sheds some light on how to quickly diagnose a power window problem

Thanks guys those are some great ideas were to look.

Funny thing......I never set the memory for 1 or 2.

I set memory for 1 and the window express kinda just fixed its self, and the window has been fine since.

Weird.

I will have to wait until it acts up again and tear into it.
Going to do a stereo install soon I will check the wiring in the door when I run the wire for the door speakers.
This stock JBL sucks donkey balls.

ummmmmmmm dont you set up the express down window feature through the message center for each driver...........

I changed that and it didn't matter, you need cat reflexes to get the dam window to stop were you want the dam thing.
Lol at Kirk.... can't do anything right... don't break the window!!!!!
You just Jinxed me fool!

well i tried to roll it down with this hammer i found.................
Funny....it was freezing rain all night, and this polish guy I work with took a hammer to his front windshield.
Great idea...he wanted to break up the ice a little.
Yep he shattered the dam thing.

I almost died laughing.

Same guy....he gets off of work at 3am.
He always calls his wife to tell her he is on his way home.
Every night he dials his number wrong by one digit, wakes this guy up at 3 a.m. for months...... and hangs up on his ass.
lol

The guy comes down to the shop, he is just livid, whats to know who the f@ck is calling his house every night at 3 am.

Funny as hell.

Total dumbass
