does anybody know if a gen1 powersteering pump will work on a gen2 motor? curious cause i still have my gen 1 motor, and the pump on the gen2 went out... they dont look the same so i dont think its gonna work...

What brand is it? Check the auto store sites, they list the same part number for gen1's and gen2's, I know it's not the most reliable source. Rock auto also lists them as the same part number, I think you would be good, but I'll let others chime in and tell you for sure.

after fighting the old one off the old motor, and the one off the car, i finally got em both side by side and they are the same, thanks!

Its the same pump...go drive

For future help, go buy yourself an inexpensive 18mm wrench and cut it in half, makes removal and install of that hose easier
You'll probably want to replace that Teflon ring as well- or the entire line (most folks can't replace that o-ring without messing it up)

that line wrench was a pain! got it all done though, the ring stayed on suprisingly i was looking at it when i pulled it, was in good shape, still working air out of lines will whine sometimes then go away. but still works, its my daily so im not too worried about it for now.. seems like this 97 is becoming a big headache, i want my 94 back!

and whats up with all these lincolns burning!? my first one burnt from the firewall back on me, moved the car out of garage and let it run for a while, had it for about 4 months and ran it alot like that, radio was off and all that, about 15 minutes later my horn started honking and i walked out to see it on fire

yupp, first flames came out of the message center area. no idea what happened, i was 15 at the time and hadnt touched the car with a wrench excpet for an oil change, had big plans for it, no isurance, was a total loss. kept my motor and what not though at least!

It doesn't take much to start a fire in any car, just over loading a wire until it gets hot next to something flammable ..and poof.
Installing an over-rated fuse cause get you this effect

Make sure that your Cruise Control shut-off switch has had the in-line fuse installed by the dealer

i need to check for all the recalls on my car, speaking of my cruise control, back a couple months ago, it worked.. didnt try using it at all, and now it doesnt work.. you know of a site that i could get info on recalls for my car?
