i bought a rebuild kit for the ps pump on my 94 conti.

I cant get the pulley off the pump, there appears to be a bolt in the center that i cant get out. does it even need to come out? event with the belt replaced i turn the whole belt system trying to get it out.

i don't want to just pop the pulley remover on there and break something else.

Autozone, borrow a P/S pulley remover.. that will get it off.

Not even sure thats a bolt. I think its just a hex drive for turning the pump by hand if needed.

That "bolt" dont come out. the pulley remover clamps onto the hub near the center (the groove actually), and has a bolt that goes down inside the center of the other pump shaft to pull the pulley off.

that center hole is also threaded, so you can press a pulley onto the pump shaft by threading a bolt into the hole, and using washers (or if you use the pulley puller, you get what you need with it to press it on), you can press the pulley onto the shaft.

with the right tool, it took me about 5 mins tops to yank/reinstall a pulley onto a p/s pump.

I see,

I have the pulley remover, i wasn't sure, and didn't want to risk breaking anything.

Thanks for the help

Thats how it works, its just pressed on. no bolt or anything holding it.

Just make sure its a P/S pulley puller. they clamp around the center hub in the groove. other types of pullers may clamp to the outer edge of the pulley, then you WILL be breaking the pulley, they are NOT strong
