I'm wondering if I blew my power steering pump out again? During this deep snow, i got stuck and tried to get unstuck. I was gunning the engine and turning the wheel left to right. Now all of a sudden I only have power steering when i hit the gas. This power steering pump is kind of new because I just replaced it almost a year ago. any ideas?

aside from you not knowing how to drive in snow....im pretty sure i read about someone having similar problems about not having steering unless he pressed the gas a little. it should be within the last 2 pages of threads. but yea why would you gun the engine and turn the wheels like that, common sense is when you floor it the tires get zero percent traction and all you do is dig urself deeper into the hole, while emberassing yourself in the car...

could be

could be you created a leak somewhere in the rack while in deep snow, check for leakage. if no leakage, then I would suggest air in the system, jack up the front end with front wheels off the ground, slowly turn the wheel all the way right and left, back and forth to get the air out (with the engine running). check your serpentine belt, is it slipping?
