Ths is obviously for you guys who've opted to keep the stock head unit. Of course if you guys with aftermarket head units have external MP3 players, post 'em up, too. Just curious to see how everyone has their's set-up as I just ordered a mount and holder. I've yet to order the interface, as my year with the 6 CD in-dash unit, I have to take the unit out to see what kind of cabling is back there first.

I see no reason you would not be able to hook up the iPhone if you can connect the iPod. They have the same connection.

I would like to try that sometime. I'll see if I can get ahold of my buddy with an iPhone. I have a full speed iPod connection cable in my glove box connected to an Alpine W200 deck.

I'll let you know if I can get ahold of him.

I know it would work and its the same...but how would I hook it up to my factory alpine deck? :)
 
I used the PIE FRD03-POD/S to connect to the 2004 6 disc changer with sat button. It sounded cool to control the ipod and have titles display through the head unit, but in practice it didn't really work out that well. The display only shows 8 characters of the title, and it takes forever to navigate using the radio controls. I always use the ipod controls anyway, just get one of the cheaper aux adapters.
 
This is my ipod setup. I kept the stock head unit and installed the ipod2car adapter. I had to unplug the cd changer from the back of the radio and install the new plug in its place. Anyway, I placed the ipod in the little space in the glove compartment. It turns off when I turn the car off and all that good stuff so I don't need to have it out. Enjoy

You can, you just need to get the serial number of the head unit and pull it out to look at what cabling is back there. That's for the 03, at least. I'll email you the places I found online when I get home.

You absolutely can get an iPod/MP3 interface if you have an in-dash 6 disc changer in your LS. If you the have the glovebox mounted changer, then you are out of luck. The reason for this is that these adapaters use the external CD changer interface on the head unit for control and audio connection. The glovebox changer uses this interface already. The in-dash 6 CD has this interface, and is capable of controlling an additional external CD changer, or equally, an iPod. If you have Nav, that is a whole other can of worms.

Another option is available for those with a satellite radio ready in-dash system (including Nav). As long as you don't already have a satellite radio kit connected to that connection, you can get a special adapter that connects your iPod to this connection. This is similar to the CD changer setup, but goes a step further in that information from the iPod gets displayed on the head unit's display. This is the one that MDavis0424 mentioned above. Ok, here's what I was looking for as far as pics. Got these from ProClipUSA.com. I used the mount blocking the vent instead of their other one because the Nano is just too small to see from where the other one mounts on the passenger side of the radio. Took me all of 3 seconds to snap this into place. Took longer to stuff the iTrip's wiring along the center console to inside the arm rest. I'd highly recommend them.

Running a Griffin iTrip for now, until I yank the head unit out to see what cabling is back there. :Beer

I have 05 with the built in 6 discplayer and SAT button and use the pie adapter. I sounds way better than any cd in my radio. I have no control of the Ipod over the radio controls like the instructions say, but I read in their instructuions that some factory radios do not operate all functions of the Ipod.
 
HAHA, I'm cheap I don't own a Ipod or anything but I do have a NOKIA 5300 Music express cell phone, stores tons of mp3 I mean tons...lol I turn it up all the way and toss it on the dash...lol

No but really I wish I had a way to hook this up like as if it were a MP3 cause it acts exactly like a pretty nice MP3 player.

Which PIE adapter did you get? The FRD03-POD/S is the one that lets you control the ipod through the radio controls and displays titles, it usually sells for around $160. They have other models that will allow control through the CD changer controls but no display, or input the audio only with no control or display.
