so my girlfriend has a 2002 pontiac sunfire with the 2.2 motor. she is getting a sheeeeet ton of water in the trunk. i found the leak. its a vent looking thing that isn't sealed around it and the flaps dont close. they are cloth like.

i dont know what it is nor why its there, i was wondering if anyone has any info on a name or use of it. the battery isntin the runk nor is the gas tank under it so my plan is to seal it off so no more water gets in the trunk.

... maybe she should just buy an ls they have one by my house same color as mine for sale lol

i google seached, found nothing, i have know idea why there might somethig like that in her trunk....

Facing Leaking Problems

First off, go buy 3M Windshield Urethane or equivalent and a cocking gun.

The most problematic areas: (Most likely to leak in order)
1. Your Sunroof
How to fix: Get new gasket. If it’s a major leak and you don’t plan on opening it ever again. Get yummy gue and seal the thing shut forever. I would prefer getting new gaskets and cleaning the tracks or what not.

2. Your "Trunk Vents"
How to Fix: I used pieces of insulation and 3M W. Urethane:

Take off the bumper. Clean the area of loose dirt and cut a piece of "something" to cover the stupid vent and gue it shut.

I completely sealed mine because I hate those things anyway. Then you’re done.

I'm sure most vehicles have those vents. (my Mark VIII does, too)

Never had problem with those vents letting water in, though.

hers is right be hind the tire like shown and it doesnt close so all the water coming off her tire plus whatever runs in behind her bumber i was thinking of using great stuff and when it dries shaving it down but the eurathane sounds good
