Service Engine Light went on the other day. I used my scanner and the code was PO 442. Evaporative leak - small leak.
I had just filled up with gas the previous day, so I removed, tightened up the gas cap and use the scanner to erase the code.
Prayers excluded, I think it will eventually go back on.
My first question is can a gas cap go "bad"? In which case I will replace it and reset the code again.
More concerning to me is I had my fuel pump changed a few months back. They also installed a new fuel filter. Is there anything involved in those repairs which could have caused or triggered a lead somewhere?
Thanks in advance for any help,
Mike

Gas cap can wear out.

Evap is sealed system to keep gas fumes in the car not in the air. Obvious that there is a small leak in hoses or connections somewhere. When fuel pump changed, evap must be disconnected from fuel system, so yes, it was disturbed.
