Please Help ECT Sensor

Where is the ECT sensor...I have searched the forum and can't find any related topics. People with service books please look for the engine coolant sensor and tell me where it is...this is driving me nuts.

It's kind of difficult to look that up without knowing the year and engine of your LS.

boy do I feel dumb...2002 lincoln ls v8..."you see there scooter, look at the most obvious thing."

Nope...cold start issues...bought the part at o'reilley and they don't have a diagram to show location...for anyone who has looked for a needle in a haystack you know where I am coming from...
 
I don't know if it's the same for 1st and 2nd Gen LSes, but it looks like for the '04s, it's on the driver's side, at the top of the head, against the intake runners, about halfway back (forward of the oil filler neck). It looks like it's right there with the driver's side knock sensor and the injector for cylinder #6.

Thanks, I will take a look tonight when I get home.
 
temp sensor 02 ls

Looks like on the 02 it is at the oli filter housing as it is on the 04's as well...see attached pic

This is too funny. I saw that and figured it was oil temp sensor but also noticed the water lines running around it...just didn't know. All the same thank you for the diagram. I really appreciate you taking the time to pass it along.

What I found was the cylinder head temperature sensor. AllDataDIY isn't always the most helpful resource...

THIS IS WRONG!!!!!! THIS IS NOT THE COOLANT TEMP SENSOR IT IS THE OIL TEMP SENSOR!!! :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:

yes - that pic is not correct.

The CHT (cylinder head temp) sensor is just inside the instake manifold between #8 and #7 - it's pics are posted in my SuperCharger thread - since I deleted mine and moved it...


I do not know of an actual seperate coolant temp sensor.

I read your post. After seeing the cht sensor from your post and looking at what I purchased at oreilley I am pretty sure we are talking about the same thing...its just that I don't know what I am talking about:D . Back to your post...How much of a pain is it to remove the intake maniforld...as I read further into your post it appears I have to drain the radiator first???

Please let me know...I am considering scrapping my idea to change the damn thing and just wait for warmer weather.
