Hi all,

I was wondering if there is anything worth buying on the market
that I could use by hand to help get rid of the spiderwebbing, light
scratches and swirl marks from my vehicle. It's a black ls, so I'm
sure someone out there feels my pain!

Get it detailed. If you don't know how to use a buffer the only thing you will do is waste your time and make it worse. Most detail shops will clean the whole car inside and out, plus compound, wax, and polish for less than 200 bucks.

Was trying to save the $$. I heard Meguirs Scrtch X works well on swirl marks. Anyone ever use it?

Iz got a black LS too and i feel ur pain... i just bought a buffer and 15 dollar meguirs wax and to some extent removed about 20% of the swirls on my hood so after so more practice wit my buffer im sure i can get more of it off

If u do it right, it willl remove swirls.. when i bought the stuff there was a special wax or maybe scuff remover that was next to the meguirs but i didnt get it dont know why haha but its suppose to help remove all that... try a clay bar too it works AMAZING

exactly which mequirs wax did you get? the Scratch and swirl remover or one of meguirs waxes? NXt generation?

Polish will take most of that out, and glaze will fill in the rest. If you get a Porter Cable or any other dual actions vs. a Rotary you have to be retarded to mess the paint up.

I wasn't impressed with ScratchX. Try Menzerna or Poorboy's World polishes.

Which rubbing compound to use all depends on the condition of your paint. unless you plan to scratch x your entire car just get the car detailed. Let the professional decide how much paint/clear to remove.

Your looking for an abrasive compound to use, different compounds are used in conjunction with different types of cutting pads or polishing pads to achieve certain results

If u want to try something yourself get the mothers or meguires clay bar kit that comes with a cleaner wax or just get a meguires cleaner wax. Use that first then next month use their stage 2 then stage 3....

* Be Careful with scratch x, if ur buffing and you see paint on your pad then stop and examine ur work very carefully. See most swirls are in your clear coat and are removed once you round the edges and smooth the layers. When you see paint on your pad that means you have already gone through your clear coat and are digging in your paint. Also if any work has ever been done to hide blemishes or old scratches you may uncover them with the scratch x
