What is the best Exaust Pipe size for power and sound?

2.5" is a little big for such a small motor. You'd be fine with 2.25" like 02V8 mentioned.

I still went 2.5" anyway because I could. ;)

The reason I ask is-

I allready have a 2.5" X-pipe and don't want to rob myself of HP.

You are not robbing yourself of HP with a 2.5" exhaust, you are robbing yourself of torque.

I am getting electric cutouts tomorrow.. Hows that going to sound? lol

Sorry for thread jacking.

Its going to sound like crap, your going to lose HP and TQ, you drive a lincoln, not a 1973 camaro, and your going to waste alot of money. Now go cancel that appointment.

Lol.. I got them done today! :D

It is by far the best sounding thing I have ever heard in my entire life and I got my hands on some vacuum actuated cutouts from a Saleen mustang so I will have best of both worlds. Quiet cruise and progressive roar. My car will eat babies. period. period. ... babies.

I will start a thread once I get more time and I will post video. Then you can flame.

ok well... I guess if you want your luxury sedan to sound like a monster truck......

The only Lincoln LS's that should have a really mean sounding exhaust should be the ones who can actually back it up with the power. Running cutouts on an otherwise stock-ish car, let alone a luxury sedan, has "ricer" written all over it. :slam

Hence, why I opted for cutouts.. because it's a luxury sport sedan. I wanted the best of both worlds and I felt a full exhaust system would give me to much of a loud drone at speeds where I preferred to listen to my passengers, but when this project is finished. It will progress into a loud exhaust, in other words, quiet as stock until I punch it then bam full muscle car sound and performance. Luxury and Sport in balance.

All power mods have to start somewhere... I opted to go there first, should I define why?
