I just bought the Pioneer AVIC-Z130BT for my 02 LS. I was wondering if anyone has installed one of these before and if so what do I do with the speed sensor wire and the reverse gear wire as well. Thanks in advance for any help
 
The gen II LS has the VSS signal coming out of the ABS module. I don't know if the gen I module provides this signal or not. I think that some have just connected to one of the four wheel speed sensors and been okay.

If you have an auto-dim rear view mirror, then the reverse signal runs to it and this is an easy place to tap the signal (you're probably going to run a microphone up to the mirror or nearby anyway).

Sorry, I don't know the gen I wire colors.
 
other important info about the install, you will want to connect the illum wire coming from the avic to one of the wires at the light bulb in the ash tray, i think it is the orange wire at the bulb, but it has been a while since ive done it. other wise it will be god awful bright at night! (the illum wire in the ford harness will not work)
 
I have an avic x920 and I couldn't find the speed sensor wire so I left it. Are you hooking up a rear view camera?
 
seems like ur gonna have pretty much the same setup as mine. i have the z130 plus the pion pioneer cam and the axxes module interface and the mic. dont get the dim signal from the rear mirror it wont work. i got mine from the harness going into the message center buttons right on top. and good luck fitting it all into the dash and sitting flush, its a very very very tight fit depth wise

Dim signal from the ash tray light or the message center buttons lighting.

Reverse signal from the rear view mirror.
 
Mine isn't equipped with the message center so would I do the dimming wire from the ash try light and where would I be able to locate the ssw and the reverse gear from the mirror right?
 
i used ashtray wire (forget which one) for the illum light.
I didnt install a backup camera so I didnt even connect the backup wire.

i would test with a meter, even if somebody told me the location, pin #, or color. if you dont have a meter, i wouldn't even think about hooking up VSS.
 
i have a meter...im just trying to find a location cause im colorblind so looking for a specific color wire isnt in my best interest lol
