Pics of my LS's evolution

Man I don't care,... wet sanding your car like that takes balls and patience. Nice work with the sanding NHLS!!!

thanks man! Yeah it was a test of my trust in the art of buffing. I was having a serious panic attack when the first buffer broke. She looks unreal now and I'm so glad I did it. I saved the car from needing a new paint job. Did some minor touch up and some major touch up painting to fix some bubbles and rock chips and such. Then sanded and buffed those spots too.

Please expand your explanation. I'm really interested in learning how to wetsand as well. "it's really easy" doesn't give me enough information :D

ugghhhh !!! that sums it up. Cars with orange peel and decent amount of scratches can bennofit the most. Basically just get some 1000 grit sand paper, a good sanding block and a hose. wet the hell out of the car and then sand lightly till you get everything uniform. then buff like crazy. its not hard, but is definately something you want to take your time with. everything has to be uniform. orange peel will show up in the sanded paint like dots. make it smooth like glass. you can go back over with a 2000 grit if you want(i did) to make it that much better a finish and easier to buff. Dont use your hands, you'll get finger marks. Have a protien shake before and stretch well! HAHAHA

pay very close attention to cracks seems and edges because they will sand more and when you buff, buff more. you dont want to outline each section in primer

Do you think the sanding marks can be removed via random orbital (PC7424 to be precise)? Or is a rotary required?

ummmmm honestly I have no clue. I wouldnt ever put a random orbital to my paint, so I've never tried it with the sanding. For the price difference between a rotary and orbital, I can understand going cheap. For a 100 bucks I got a brand new rotary, extension cord, carying case etc etc etc.

An orbital will bounce off your paint and gives you much less control over the mvement which is key when you get near seems. Seems you want to go parrallel with so you dont remove too much paint. All and all, I guess theres only one way to find out, but my opinion would be sell the orbtial to someone who doesnt know better and buy a rotary

I paid 125 for my random orbital. It is second only to the Flex 3401 in power and quality (random orbital, that is.) It's not the cheapo ones you pick up at Walmart. A lot of professional concourse detailers have one, since it finishes down LSP ready better than a rotary. You can still do paint correction with it, but it doesn't have the power that a rotary does. In fact, you'd have to try to burn through the clear to actually do it with a random orbital polisher.

If I were to purchase a rotary, it would probably be the Makita 9227.

I should add that I am an amateur with this stuff. Rotary polishers still scare me a little.

Absolutely beautiful. Props on the paint work. It looks like you need a new airdam though.

thanks man. I'm not gonna bother with the airdam just now. I am trying to figure out how to make a body kit to support my over all Roush look and TT set up.
