I was at a car show today and the guy behind me had a 96 Mustang GT with a Cobra engine in it. i go talking to him about his PCV, he told me that he took small air compressor filter, took the filter out and that he was using it to extract oil. I know I've seen bigger setups on here, but has any one ever tried something like this.

Fairly common. They are usually sold as a PCV oil separator. Problem is most are so small they only separate a very small amount of oil before passing it on. I had one on my '93 and it would never have more than ~1/2 teaspoon of oil.
