Got the car back. Starts perfectly again. But the steering feels way off. Feels loose. Tracks. Pulls hard to the right. And the light above the speedometer is on constantly (the one that looks like a vehicle with slippery tracks underneath).

When I had the steering rack replaced a couple years ago, that light was on afterwards, and they had to recalibrate the steering angle sensor. Wondering if a pcm change would require a recalibration of the sensor. And if it was not calibrated, would these be symptoms?

Yeah, the shop had to bring it to the dealer to program the new pcm. I was thinking maybe they forgot to recalibrate the SAS if it was supposed to be a part of the procedure.

It shouldn't, but I've heard (twice now) of dealers starting the AdvanceTrac recal procedure and then not completing it when marrying a new cluster or PCM.

I wouldn't think this would make steering feel wrong though. You may have multiple problems. Is it that it has too much boost at speed?

joe, one of my abs wires got pinched when I replaced a wheel bearing about a month ago. I haven't got around to getting a new abs sensor. Wondering if that would be an issue from their standpoint as far as being able to recalibrate the advancetrak system.

As far as the steering feeling wrong, it seems like the vehicle wants to track more than usual, the steering wheel jerks pretty bad when hitting bumps/ice buildup on the roads. I was thinking it felt like a tie rod, but that wouldn't illuminate the warning light. I almost always have to keep "left" pressure on the steering wheel to keep it from pulling hard to the right.

Could be something about too much "boost". Are you referring to the speed sensitive driving feature?

Yes, but I now don't think that's your problem. I don't think I could help without being under it. Good luck...

I've just dropped it off at the shop. See what codes if any are stored due to that light.

So... The ball joint nut loosened on the passenger side, and now I need a new one along with a lower control arm. Awesome.

Because they say that the nut loosened enough to allow enough play to result in boring out the hole.

I would if there was an ls in a junkyard anywhere near me.
