I recieved my paint from paint scratch.com today to color match my grille (non LSE) and rear surround. I have monday and tuesday off (Monday night football baby) next week. i bought extra paint.... you guys think of anything else to paint...

No, but please take lots of pics. I might try what you are doing.

.

should be pretty straight forward... following kens old write-up from LSK

You might not have enough paint, but you could color match the valences under the bumpers and doors, and maybe the intake manifold cover or other things in the engine compartment...

yeah, i was going to see how well this paint works / how much it covers... If it does, I'll order more and do the bottom.

How many cans did you buy? For the side skirts and rear pieces, if you want them smooth you will need a lot of primer and sanding. If you just want to color match them without them being smooth, it should be a lot easier and you wont be able to tell much difference from farther away anyways. The color matched side skirts and rear bumper valance are a great addition to the look of an ls!

The black inner headlight bezels would look good painted the body color

If i do the sides, then i'll take the time and prep well.... I can buy all the prep stuff locally. I bought two cans 12.5 cans of base and of clear... along with clear coat blinder (order below). I planned on doing the lower valances in the first place, but didnt want to buy all at once if the grille's dont turn out well.... It should though... i think three more 12.5 cans "could" cover the valances.....

A body shop would have done it for not much more than what you paid in paint.

A whole bumper cover can be sanded, primed and painted for around $250 or so.

What do you need clear cloat blender if you're painting the sholw grille surround and the whole rear surround?

Not around here, maybe if you have a friend or hook ups at a body shop. They quoted me around 400 for repainting a bumper. About 110 for painting a grille or rear surround. About 400-500 for painting the side skirts and rear valances. I saved a lot by doing them myself and now that I bought a spray gun, it will be a lot easier than using spray cans, plus I can just buy pints or a gallon of paint and paint whatever I want on my ls for a lot cheaper than a shop would charge

i have some paint thats chipped off on the new bumper im putting on, so im going to fix that too... i got it just incase the clears arent perfect...

i had it at 230 total to the chrome and the valances... figured i'd test the chrome pieces first, that way i dont have cans of light parchment gold laying around :)

It cost me about 450 to get my front bumper redone. Clear was chipping.

I got my rear surround and grille color matched along with the side skirts trunk lid and had the rear bumper fixed had a crack in it and exhaust cut outs for 1500

everything costs more over there.

cost me $400 but that included removal and installation of the bumper done by the shop.

Ouch.

Cost me 800 to get my front and rear bumper covers redone.

I'll be attempting Mon / Tues, I'll take plenty of pics and let you know how it goes

i have painted my front grille and rear surround (black) on both my LS's and also all the chrome trim on my 2000 LS and smoked both cars tail lights and fogs and it has cost me a total of maybe 60 bucks!! they have been painted for over a year now and no chips so far!!! and soon to come i will be color matching my 2004 LS's grill and surround. autumn red paint has cost me around 40 bucks so all in all i have maybe spent $100 to paint 2 cars.

I want your painter then! My drivers side mirror is chipping like hell.

Having the chrome painted does make a huge difference in the appearance.

I'm done with prime and base... just clears and pollish left... I'll have pics and a write-up soon... looks awesome though
