Painting Chrome rear surround........

I'm going to be painting the rear surround this weekend. What grit of sand paper should I use? Do i have the sand the chrome completly off? Im also going to be painting the chrome on my bumpers.

Did you have a shop do it, Tommy?

I don't think the shop roughed up the chrome on mine, but I have no choice as far as them or me doing it. I tried, and failed. Tricoat sucks.
 
Yessir. They didn't use the etching primer Nick gave them yet again, so I've got two spots that bubbled and are now chrome. Awesome.
 
I also had mine painted at the shop and it turned out great. I think I paid $130.

That blows. Do they redo it for free? Probably not, but you can hope.
 
I had mine painted at the Lincoln body shop. Looks factory and I have no problems with the paint chipping whatsoever. I'd look at getting this done professionally IMO.
