painting bumper lens housing

I have pulled one of my bumper lens apart last night to paint the housing and I noticed the housing is pretty smooth.


What would be the best way to get the paint to adhere to the plastic? I have plastic paint adhesive promoter so will that work? Should I try to sand it at all instead or even sand it before the promoter?

I wouldn't sand. I didn't use anything before the color on mine. since it's going to be sealed up good, it's not going to get the exposure to the elements. But I suppose some bulldog couldn't hurt. I wouldn't worry about sanding the housing at all.

Thanks. I'm not worried about the elements since its going to be sealed I am just worried about the paint building up in those little bubbles do to the smooth surface or even eventually flaking off pretty easy.

I am going with a few light shots of Bull Dog then just add some high temp paint.


This is a bit different than the turn signal housing since I HAD to sand those down do to the cheap chrome crap.

just curious as to what your talking about with bumper lens? I'm thinking that you are talking about paining the housing behind the clear corners to match the car.... am I on the right path?

They also call those the bumper lens. It is the lens that is on the bumper not?
