Anyone every think of painting the tail lights like this? Or tinting real dark? It shouldn't be illegal like complete tail light tinting. Its just the smooth section, the signal would still partially show. You could even put the emblems back on. Just an idea. The car is from the photo garage, sorry if its yours.

Hey, looks great. I'm no expert, but isn't it a law that the reflective part of the taillight has to be unosbstucted? Otherwise I like it.:)

I had tinted tail lights on my GP for a couple years.. never got bothered for them.

I think i'm the exception however

do a search, look in greyghost garage, and mikedeezys garage, theyve both done it, ive wanted to but not sure. i like the half look though

I'm not a huge fan of the all black but I do like that top pic. Totally different look to the rear end.

The laws in most states used to specify no covering of the reflector or tail/brake lights. However, most have now gone to performance standards and require visibility at specified distances both at night and in daylight. Check with your own state's traffic law on the matter for positive information.

The more I look at it the more I like it. I'm going to paint my markers soon, if the paint quality seems to go good, I think I'll do my tails like this.

Well I have some experience painting, however never on plastic as I recall, maybe models as a youngster. I guess I can't say exactly how hard it'll be yet.

What i did for my side markers was went to a hobby store and got some tint spray (for model cars) and a packet of different grits of sandpaper up to 2000. i also got some clar coat from autozone (very important if u want it to last). sanded it down real good to get all the letters off then wet sanded it with the 1000 so it was fairly smooth. then hit it several times with the tint until it was completely dark, then clear coated em.

I would recomend practicing it on other like plastics b4 you do it to your, so u can get the process down and even.

That's quite a job done on this car, and short of some technicality with exposed reflectors or something, it should be totally legal. The almost completely tinted ones are asking for trouble, but in the face of that over regulating beaucracy we have to live with, I like them too......if you like it, don't anyone tell you that you CAN'T do it.

That was awhile ago, I never did it. Still like the idea but the stock tails have grown on me.
