Painted my rear surround... Pics

Hey guys, just snapped some pics of my painting... I think it turned out pretty good. This was my first time painting something like this before. lol I was nervous it would turn out crappy. Still has some swirl marks, but won't be able to take care of those until the paint cures.


As we all know, this is what they look like before:

Here is the afters (and yes I know my trim by my right exhaust pipe is bent... That happens time to time and I dunno why, but I just bend it back in:

Looks thousand times better. What kind of paint did you use on it? It matches pretty good.

Looks good. Did you also paint the part behing the license plate? mine looks dark gray or like a faded black. I dont know it that just paint wear or the actual color.

not to bad, you could def. shine it up some to match the gloss of the trunk, some rubbing compound and wax

Thanks guys. Yea I am going to shine it up after it cures... I think it said to wait like 3 weeks or more before even touching it with waxes.

I used paint from paintscratch.com... I ordered their flex primer and everything that is in that tutorial basically. The rubbing compound is weird, it is hard to really rub it on there with being careful not to rub the paint off the very edges... I think it is just because of the shape of the surround, it is easy to put alot of pressure on the edges.

ANd yea I painted everything. The area the actual plate sits on used to be grey, I just hit it with the black overspray instead of taping it off.. Though the texture of that surface is very rough and it is odd for it to hold paint, however it turned out good as the overspray hits all the edges that the plate does not cover.
