Hey guys I need help soon
i was driving home yesterday from work (doing 65-80 for 300 miles or so) and I look down for some reason and I see that the gear selection says "E" instead of d5.... well I pull over shut the car off and start it back up it goes to d5 and i start drving again and "E" well I make saure that it is not smoking or burning or anything and I make it home pull the code p1788 witch says transmisson proble DUHH!!!! so whats up I had the tranny flushed at 30,xxx and they put the right stuff back in....It is shifting hard as hell snd downshifts from 3-2 for no reason....once your going its fine but I thnk this is gonna be expensive....
funny thing is the car just roll 70,000 before it happen:shifty: shady biz by ford?? It makes you think!!

service manual says that's electronic issue (good!) and says it will shift using maximum pressure when this happens. so that's good news. But you need to take it to the dealer.

ok still have not had time or money to take it to the local stealership....Its barking the tires when shifting into 2nd is there any way to clear this problem without taking it in....also what could it be and whats it gonna cost me??? thanks guys

Sounds like maybe the solenoid pack. Do you also get delayed R-D and D-R? That would definitely be the soledoid pack. BTW, the pack is made in France. The new one is a Bosch unit.

Just had the same issue with my 2000 V8 Sport. I paid a little under $1200 for the solenoid packs to be replaced. But, when they finished with that and test drove it there was a new noise the tech noticed. The dealership talked to Lincoln and got authorization to take the transmission back apart and fix whatever needed fixing at no additional cost. I think this was an after warranty adjustment, but I never heard those words from the service manager. The car only had a little over 56,000 miles at the time.
