My check engine light came on, so I had the codes read. I got codes P10174 AND P0171 and I also noticed that after the car sits it makes a noise under acceleration that sounds like a baseball car in the bike spokes, the noise stops after you let off the gas and does it off and on then goes away.

Any Ideas 00, V6

Start by looking at the vacuum plumbing to the PCV valve.

The PCV valve located under intake plenum, just replaced mine 2 days ago, same motor.
Valve was $5.99 @ Advance Auto. Got to remove intake, upper & lower pieces, might need new gaskets if bad but they are reusable gaskets. Had a difficult time getting the hose connection off the tube near #6 COP & the drivers side ignition module for the 3 COPs. Be careful with the small hose that goes from the intake plenum to the top radiator hose manifold, that small plastic tube will break easily! The top radiator hose is $301 list @ dealers, $231 minimum. I C Max sells it for $118. Got a new 1 ordered for mine $106, with clamps @ the 2 places the large hoses connect left & right. The top radiator hose is P/N YM4Z8B502AA, it comes with a new thermostat housing & thermostate from dealer. The 1 I ordered just has the top left & right hoses with the center 5 port plastic manifold, but has hose clamps for both hoses @ the manifold. I think I will spray throttle body cleaner down the tube were the rubber large connector by #6 COP connects to the pipe going under the intake plenum the night B 4 I change oil from now on to keep the PCV valve cleaned out. Might save problems later. Just a thought! Be careful of the 2 vacumn lines attached to the left rear of the intake & the 2 elec connectors back there. There is also another large vacumn line back there connected to the middle of the plenum. Just my observations. Food 4 thought! U can check for a bad PCV valve by removing the oil fill cap, engine running, put your hand over opening then remove hand. You should hear a change in engine. If oil spits out of fill hole, PCV valve probably clogged causes excess oil pressure.
