Since it only happens at idle, I am inclined to point in the direction of the IAC valve.

Also I would think it would be an immediate fix, I dont' think the computer would have to reset for that. But I could be wrong, and maybe you should pull the neg battery cable for a couple hours just to see. I mean, that's free anyways.

I think your right. Also, no reset is required. I had three or four of those IACs to fail on the Grand Marquises that I have had.
