What's up with the posting blitzkreig?

Is there a post-whore contest or something I missed ? :confused:

Unfortunately, it negates the utility of the "New Posts" link when the listings returned resemble the annual delinquent property tax listings in the newspaper's classified ad section. :(

LOL Driller. I log on a couple times a day and it is tough to keep up.

That's my point. I try to keep up. I hit the boards a couple times during the day when I have a couple minutes. Hitting "New Posts" is a usually the way I find out what's happening quickly that may interest me. If I have to visually scan 50 or more posts on 3 or more pages... well... :(

I type so slow, I need these shortcuts!
 
I agree John , Driller .....If you two , and you know who you , are are so intent on being listed on the home page for posts ... I will try and put a word in , so it can happen without you guys overloading , and ruining the new post section...
 
Fast connection and able to type fast. Does make it easy. My pages come up in no time. I only got a few minutes each day to get on. I will try to keep it down. . .

Just a moment ... I resemble the reMark! Oh, wait ... you were talkin about the Kid. Sifrino has a lot to say because he's done so much to his Mark.

Theres a complaint I havent heard before. Too many posts - Hmm. Just when I get things almost figured out ya gotta toss me a curve..........

Geee....were you referring to me and Sifrino by chance???

No...the reason you saw me posting like crazy is, if you have not noticed, I have not really been here, or posted in quite a while. I was working a job that by the end of the day, I was too tired to even attempt to walk over to the computer to look. I posted some things I was selling, and a few pix of my new tires....but that was about it. So, I felt it necessary to pick up where I left off at. Not that the post count really matters to me....if you know me from Calvins old site, and the LOD, then you know that I usually do not have much to say....unless I let things get under my skin....then LOOK OUT.....LOL I BARELY have just over 1500 posts on Calvins site....and I have been there since the beginning....so that just goes to show you that I could care less.

But, being that I am a moderator over here, I feel it necessary to say hello to the new members....better late than never....I guess.

So, sorry for what seemed like a post war, but the most of it is over....I will resume quiteness.......

Oh....and I have DSL....not as fast as cable, but pretty quick....so like Sifrino....the computer is on all the time...... :N

One can never be too active and Ray, no, you were not included in that post about the increased activity, but you know what, a site becomes more fun for all involved when more people are involved.

I have no problem with the increased post counts. We have many new members and I wish each current member would say "HI" to every new member that shows up. Don't you feel good when people acknowledge your existence?

I would like to form a welcoming committee that ensures that every new member is properly welcomed into the group by 400 or 500 members. Only makes sense and feels good too.

Now, when people reach a bit to share a little humor to brighten up everybody's day, that's what I like the most. Having fun. All the time.

Oh yeh, and fixing our rides; whether they need to be fixed or not!
 
I see your point about the "new post" section, but the best way I know of to help a forum grow is activity. So what if it is a handful of people doing the majority of the posting? If we get people that just happen across the site, and they think it isn't moving, why would they join? But if they see that there is a lot of activity, they may be more inclined to get involved. I guess I feel that any input is good input, and that it helps the site. I think "hellos" to the new members is a great thing, especially since there is a forum just for that purpose. Sorry that the New Post feature is less of a convenience to you now, but with added activity that was soon to be inevitable anyway. Just my 2¢.
 
I agree. Activity is a good thing. I also see the point but maybe it was a random large volume week. I guess that happens right?

Well I will say that if hosting ever becomes a problem whether it be traffic or disk space, I have a solution. :biggrin:

I post to all new posts. So, there should be more posts that come up in your "New Posts." Bcoz I am just replying to them. You should be happy that when you come on a day later you see a few pages of posts. Wouldn't you rather see that then just five or ten new posts?
