Wife got rear ended today, luckily while driving the Intrepid, no injuries. A woman driving a Honda Pilot never touched her brakes and slammed into a brand new Lexus which then shoved the lexus into our car and our car into a mini van. The Lexus was totaled. Due to the extent of the damage i'm afraid the insurance is going to total the car. When you look in the trunk you can see the frame/body bent in. All the gaps around the trunk, taillights, hood, bumper, headlights are out of alignment.

That sucks, +1 on the ls

Pffft. It's a Decrepi... errr. an Intrepid. Lots of them out there. :p

Be thankful it wasn't your LS.

I'd be furious if it was my car. The Intrepid isnt the best car out there, its a '01, but for my wife and son to drive in its a big safe car and has all the options Dodge had to offer in 2001. The main thing is its paid off, so its a FREE RIDE. Now its a f*cked up free ride. Even if they cut me a check and totaled it i'd be back in the routine of having a car payment. No payment = happiness

get ur kids a Taurus, reliable/safe unlike Crysler vehicles which are just big soapbox cars

Knowing that my wife was ok i had a good laugh pulling up to a four car pile up and all the drivers are women, one of them asian. Not that i'm implying anything :shifty:

My dad has a Taurus, tons of miles. Kinda like a cross between a Timex and a Bic lighter. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking.....but when it finally dies you just throw it out.

Phew, thought this was gunna be a RIP LS Thread.

Though you have posted many times saying how you want to rid of your LS.

In general i do like my LS. I get all bitchy when the damn thing has problems which occurs more often than any other car i have owned, but when its running good i'm happy. Current Status: Happy

was it you that just replaced the radiator or something?
Yes, new radiator is in. All is good. I cant think of any other plastic cooling system pieces that are left to be replaced. One plus side to replacing the radiator is the oil cooler and a/c condensor are now nice and clean of debris, they were horrible (140k miles). Might just be a mind trick but the a/c seems a tad bit cooler now.

I had a '97 Intrepid with the 3.5, it was a great car. Never had a problem with it.

Got word from the dealer that it all depends on frame damage which wont be determined until it gets torn down. The way the two cars hit it was corner to corner which i guess transfered more energy to both cars. The Lexus was f*cked up and the damage to the Intrepid doesnt look bad but when you look underneath you can see the frame rail bent. Since the frame rail cant be replaced it all depends on whether they can "unbend" the frame. If it cant it'll be totaled. I dont know how i feel about this. On one hand it would be nice to move on and get some cash for a new ride.... then again its nice to have no car payment and a big safe car for the wife to drive that has virtually no problems. Which way would ya'll go with this situation?

If you get another car, get a chrysler 300.

Its what my lady drives, the 3.5L V6 powered one and its roomy as heck (im jealous at how much space it has and the huge trunk) and gets much better mileage than any ls.

Yeah, on a highway trip i saw it mark 28mpg......

I'm talking to and from work, 10.5 miles one way. Takes a couple miles just to warm up. Also never believe the on-board computer as they are always optimistic.

Edit: anyway, mid or upper 20's for a large car is not bad, just don't get the 2.7l, gutless wonder!
