optima yellow top

for a system am i better off upgrading to a h.o alt or upgrading the battery because i remember reading something about how these batterys dont worj well with h.o alts

Batteries simply hold power.

Alternators produce power. A bigger battery will simply allow you to hold more power and
play the system longer with the car turned off. A bigger alternator produces more amps, actually creating more power.

Most systems with a single amp dont need a high output alt (unless the single amp draws a lot of power, like 2000wrms). I think i would feel comfortable running up to a 1500wrms amp on stock electrical.

Anything bigger and i would upgrade both the alt and battery. You can also do the big 3 with stock electrical and improve power delivery.

alright man thanx for the info now i understand a little better. so for now im just going to get the battery and if worse comes to worse ill get the alt

what kind of amp did you get?
I ran 2500rms (modded mtx 1501d and 800.4 fosgate) in my caprice w/ a 80 amp alt and it couldn't keep up (dimming) but was still load as fu ck. I did have a 1000ca/850cca batt though. If your running the stock batt and under 1000 rms i think you should be fine w/o replaceing it. However that is a good deal on the optima.
