Only cool A/C, only hot fresh air, hot dash

Hey all. I returned from Iraq to find that my A/C only blows cool air, not cold. My vent only pumps out hot air, not ambient air from outside, and my radio and A/C control faceplates on my dash are hot to the touch.

I'm thinking that the valves for the vents are mixed up and a bunch of hot air is always being mixed through the A/C or fresh air system. Is this a common problem that has a reliable fix?

By the way, about three years ago, dropped $1,600.00 and had my A/C compressor and manifold totally replaced by Ford, so hopefully, those are not the problem.

I forgot to mention that there is a constant hissing type noise coming from inside the dash when the A/C is on, and the driver's side air is slightly cooler than the passenger side air.

Search this forum for DCCV.

Wait that won't work.

Search for climate... It will pull a bunch of DCCV threads.


Sigh, just change your DCCV and bleed.

You may (probably) or may not have a DCCV problem. (The LS does not mix air like most cars, instead it controls the amount of hot engine coolant circulating through the two heater cores.)

You do have a low refrigerant level problem (that's the hissing you hear). This means that you have a leak in the AC refrigerant system somewhere.

That may be the problem but the air has been consistently the same cool temp for a few months. I forgot to mention that the driver's side is cooler than the passenger side air. Does that mean DCCV?

It could be, but low refrigerant will produce the same symptom + a hissing sound.

From your descriptions, it sounds like you may have both problems.

clamp off the hoses coming off of the DCCV and see if air is cold as it should be, or at least gets colder
