I just got a sub and amp (mono) and was wondering if i could install them with the factory head unit? How could i do this? I don't want to replace the head unit if i dont have to.

use a line level. do a search there are plenty of how to threads on this. Its the same as a stereo amp or 4 channel.

you need something called a hi-lo converter.. ur going to splice ur 2 speaker wires found behind the radio.. connect the hi-lo converter and convert the HI audio signal into a LOW signal.. it won't matter which speaker cable u splice because when ur done ur going to connect everything back up again.. it should state it in the instructions for the converter itself.. the only diff. is that ur audio will never be as good as it would be if u purchased an aftermarket radio..

i didn't hook mine up myself but i got the fools a best buy to hook it up to my stock headunit works fine
