Today my Mark showed its toughness.

Had some black ice on the roads this morning, still have icy roads now.

This morning I was heading to work and I had just driven past a school on a major thoroughfare. I accelerated past the blinking signs, and it was so dark I couldn't see any of the lines on the road.

I hit the median with my front left tire and rode up on it. I immediately cut the wheel to the right, which accomplished two things: It took me off the median, and it started me spinning.

I spun out of control toward oncoming traffic. Fortunately, the other cars were far enough away from me that the drivers were able to stop and wait for me to fly by. I slammed back wheels first into the curb, went up over the curb, and landed 4 wheels down in the exit road of a car dealership, facing the red light as though I were waiting for it to change. I was now perpendicular to the direction I had been going.

I resisted the urge to yell "Ta-da!" and put the car in reverse and backed up a few feet to test the tires. All intact. The light turned green. I drove on to work.

NOT. A. SCRATCH.

After work I took the Mark to my favorite mech because my TQ has been shuddering again. He poured a tube of Shudder Guard into my tranny, and 5 minutes later I was driving home, merely $10 poorer (instead of $1,500 for a rebuild) and smiling as I tried futilely to re-create the shuddering.

Some days I really love this car. :D

I'm just kidding mang! :D

I just really did not know that you owned a Lincoln.... we can all share our love for the Mark regardless of anything else we believe :)
Heh. I admit I don't frequent the Mark forum much anymore...

But you should have seen me when I was doing my coil conversion. I was all up in everybody's grill. :D

Good to hear you're ok. Was the tranny shuddering due to the 'accident' or was it just an ongoing thing?

Had been shuddering for weeks. I was thinking I was going to have to get the tranny rebuilt. It's a common problem with these Ford trannies. The TC gets some muck in it, and it used to take a flush or even a rebuild to fix it. But this Shudder Guard is like magic. :D

lol! I started to laugh when i read the part// I resisted the urge to shout "Ta-Da" lol glad everything is ok for ya!

glad you and your car are ok but
sounds like someone need some winter driven practice get out to a big parking lot and have some fun.

Mine is sitting outside with the front end slammed.
I'm guessing that either an air line cracked, popped out, or.... a bag developed a hole in it for absolutely no reason. It was a pleasure riding home from the Meadowlands with the front end slammed..... what an awful ride home.

I have a very passionate love/hate relationship with the car.

good to hear you mad it through that i live in lexington and it sucked driving to work this morning but i managed to not hit anything on the way there or back.

Heh. Except for the whole "riding up on the median" part, I would agree with you.

Glad you and your mark are ok. Sounds like you did a sweet bit of driving to keep you both safe. Sometimes you just have to let go of the wheel and be the passenger and hope for the best.

So you weren't driving safely, you wrecked, and you managed to come out unscathed. See, Obama is elected, and everyone wins.

I loved the story man, the weather here in Missouri has been crappy the past few days. I'm sure I've turned a few heads myself sliding around the corners and everything like I do. I love the look on their face when they see me driving down the street sideways but still in control.

I just can't believe your tires took that kind of punishment, I'd be surprised if they didn't crap out on you soon.

They're Falkens. Go figure.

Funny story... glad you didnt hit something or someone, these cars are tough as nails.
Mine has been in the garage for a month I can't even think of driving it in a Minn. winter.
I see at least 3 cars in the ditch every day on my way to work the last few days.
My bronco has been in 4wd for over a week straight.

yeah the first snow we had around here was the first time i drove my mark up to college with smooth as a baby's butt rear tires. didnt bother me just couldnt get going very easily now its sitting with brand new tires but i need to put control arms on it and i dont know if i want to drive it in all the stupid salt when the mountaineer is already covered in the :q:q:q:q
