It is not so much the 'bothering', its rather the listening part like Tommy said.
Most of us are here because we choose to fix the cars ourselves (some out of money necessity, some not).
You can repair a lot of things yourself if you listen to the guys that have been there and done it. Very few things need to be rediscovered. In my 13+ years of owning and driving these cars, I have done most of the work myself, although I have a buddy with a repair shop that makes it easier on me, and have driven these cars for almost free.
As I am closer to 50 than to 30, you're not the only guy who is 'older' that works on cars. I have 3 of them sitting in the driveway btw.
