Ok, another problem I don't know how to start trouble shooting...

So, I'm not sure if any of you have followed what I have done with my car lately but I'll list out what has been done lately (although this problem has been going on since before any of this work was done)

New:
Fuel filter
plugs (found out yesterday pass side valve conver gasket is blown bad)
IAC
IMRC's cleaned
Intake manifold gasket/IMRC gaskets replaced
MAF cleaned
fuel pump pressure checked


Also: The car has a reinhart chip and a j-mod. the 2-3 spring was left out. (from what I've been told)

What happens... when driving (non-aggressively) and going from 2nd gear to 3rd gear the RPM's will drop like the engine has lost fuel pressure and then pop back up. This happens below the speed of 38-40mph.

Example: Taking off from a light... car takes off fine and shifts into second... right around 30-35 mph the rpms drop to 1000-1300rpm and then jump back up to 2500-2800 rpm and then shifts into 3rd.

Also; and this is just because I don't know how these transmissions work. I know the torque converter locks up at 38mph. I don't know where it would lock with the tune but in any case when I hit the 38-40mph speed the car feel's like it shifts twice. Is this the torque converter locking up and then the transmission shifting into 4th?


When the transmission shifts it always seems to shift fine. When shifting by going through the gears manually this does not happen (though I would need more testing to say this for a fact).

Anyway, I'm lost. Don't know what this could be.
 
Sounds like its the lock up schedule.. Or time to lock up on the 2/3 shift.
Mine did the same thing after I did gears and I extended the time to lock up and raised the min speed.
