Alright,I have a oil leak at the moment but since I have not been able to get it on a lift I am not where it is for sure. The oil is dripping on the driver side exaust manifold so that may help if someone here has an idea.

Not sure what the drip rate is but it looks about to be about a quart at about 1000 miles.

The road trip is not official yet but it is to go to San Diego which would be roughly a 300 mile round trip.

What I want to know is if it would be safe to make the drive or not?

This is the only car I am driving and I do have another ride to get there but would like to drive myself there for the first time since I had just started driving again.

I also have an air leak on the front struts and would like to know if that would also cause another problem for this road trip? (A problem for sure)

What you have to do is note how much oil drops in set amount of miles. Then just prepare for it. Shoot all my air stuff leaks down over night I still would drive it anywhere. Long as leak is not big. Just saw 1 qrt per 1000 thats not bad.

doesn't sound like a big deal. bring some extra oil with you and check it every now and again.

Right now it looks to be a quart at about a 1000 but I will see about doing the drops per mile.

The air isn't too bad. There are nights where it will drop over night and times where it won't drop for at least 2 days.

Thanks for the reply.

Any idea where the oil leak could be coming from? Just not sure when I can get it on a lift for me to look.

If dropping on exh manifold my guess would be the valve cover gasket. Are you getting burning off oil smell? The oil filter adapter is on drivers side too. These go all the time.

I was thinking the valve cover gasket but was not sure if there could be another spot to check.

Thanks.

+1 Valve cover gasket. Mine leaked on my passenger side, on the exhaust manifold, could smell it burning, and it would smoke. Glad I finally got rid of it!
