what Fram filter matches motercraft FL -218 ? also, How do you tell if the car is equipped with a oil cooler ? for a 04 lincoln ls

I don't know which Fram. I've heard some bad things about Fram.
The sport versions get the cooler. It's a round thing that is between the oil filter and the oil filter adapter. There are two small coolant hoses that run from it to the lower radiator hose. The link below shows a drawing of it.

Motorcraft, AC-Delco, Mobil1, K&N, Wix, Purolator are all great filters.

I'm currently using a NAPA spin-flow which is made by Wix.

Stay away from Fram!!!

All I use is K&N on the LS, the SVT Focus, the Fiesta, the Land Rover, the Lotus.....

For the LS it's a K&N HP-1014.

the best part about a K&N is the welded nut on the end of the filter, it makes it super easy to get off in the tight space that the filter calls home

Oil is changed.. bought a Nappa spin flow, would of got the K&N but they were out of stock..

I am the technical manager at Fram filters. You can tell if you have an oil cooler by looking at the filter boss, if you have a cooler, there will be a small can between the filter and the block with two small hoses attached to it. The Fram part numbers are PH5618 without the cooler and PH9010 with the cooler. I hope you do not buy into the tribal knowledge presented by some here about Fram.
