Im trying to change the oil filter the old one came out fine but the new one wont go back in. I tried putting the old one back in and now it wont fit either....whwt the gell is going on...need help

what do you mean by doesnt fit ? as in it wont screw on all the way. or you just cant get it into place ? if it wont screw on all the way. make sure the rubber oring from the old filter didnt stick to the block. if its the other. its probably just the way you are trying to snake it in to place.

Its like the swaybar nad the ps pump moved a couple of inches in and now the new filter and even the old cant get back there

I think you're just frustrated. Have a beer, take a deep breath and try again.

I really have a hard time wondering why peeps have hard time getting filter in and out. But it might be that I do mine on a lift and the front suspension is hanging. On the lift the filter comes right out no problem.

I gotta admit it's a PITA sometimes. It's not that hard, but you do have to know how to snake the thing in and out around the sway bar and steering rack and then flip it over and turn it and whatnot to get it in. You gotta remember when the MN12 platfrom was designed, Ford had no intention of putting a V-8 in the chassis. It was designed around the 3.8L V-6 block. So when they shoehorned the DOHC 4.6 in there, it made things tight.

I think that was part of the reason....but it still seemed more difficult to get it in than usual
