Well guys, i picked this up in sept. and had a couple minor issues (temp. sensor, bags, hood struts, etc. ) but they were all sorted out.
But this time its more than minor, here goes.
About 2 weeks ago i happened to hear a noise in the engine area (previously very quiet), it almost sounded like the water pump but more of a rattle sound.
A friend thought it was maybe a valve or lifter and since it was time for an oil change i did that and added some lucas oil stabilizer to see if it made a difference.
Well it made no difference, decided to have a couple local shops give their opinion on the noise.
These unrelated mechanics both said it was the timing chain tensioner and expensive to replace mainly because of the fwd arrangement. They also said to just drive it till it dies.
Having only 115000mi on it they were surprised i had tensioner issues.
My question is how long can/could this last me before it dies.
The car is probably in 8-9 condition and thought it would be with me for many years but now not so sure.
