Oh Oh.... 94's Tranny ... I believe is toast

3-4 shift solenoid fits in a bag in the front seat along with the 6 quarts of fluid and filter. Worth a try.

But if I have a transmission to put in why go through the hastle of dropping $50+ for fluids and for the 3-4 solenoid if more it toast.

I'm thinking pop in Mike's tranny... and work on buying a nice used 98 if this one goes or have a 98 tranny to have on the shelf for when this one goes.

I could put it next to my 94 4.6 Mark VIII engine that's sitting on my shelf waiting to be reborn into a different car.

Ah hell, just put it in the backseat and buckle it in! The leather will just wipe clean! OR, you could put a blanket on the roof, toss it up there, get some twine and run it down around through the doors to tie it down. Remember, run it through the doors and not through the windows or you won't be able to open the doors when you're done and have to climb in the Mark General Lee style.

Oh and make sure you take pics and post them up here!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Adam... But Do I look like I'm from Oklahoma? (waiting for Pepperman to respond:D )

Oh and Adam I have to get this car back on the road so I can install the sub box that you helped me with. It's almost ready to go in.

depends on the miles on the trans and if it was changed every 30k or so, Too many miles and new trans fluid = bad things.

Rich,
My 94 had only 97,000 + on it when reverse and all the forward gears went out.
I heard 94 transmissions are not the best.
After pulling mine out I discovered the fluid was like MUD ! and all kinds of crap was in the bottom. We also discoverd it was a rebuild. so it was pulled and trashed. It was replaced with a 97 or 98 I forget we also did a mild Jmod it is awseome now. Yes if you can wait for warmer weather and replace it don't repair it... Just my two cents !

I would drop than pan and clean it.
Give it a Jmod
Check the bell housing for any sign of leaks, if there is ATF in the bottom I would do the front seal, but ONLY if its leaking, otherwise leave it alone!

If its not leaking... don't touch it.

They are know to last a long long time and failures only seem to result from a defective seal. The chances of making a mistake putting a new seal in are high enough where I wouldn't touch it... also any seal you might get could be of suspect quality when compared to the factory installed seal.
