I am planning to do new tires and wheels, possibly this winter. I want to go to 18X8 in the front and 18X9 in the rear. By doing this, what would be the best tire size for the front and rear?

The closest to the stock size you will get is 245/45-18 for the front, and 275/40-18 for the rear...

I agree.

Also, why one inch difference in width? You going with deep dished on the rear, in a 3 piece wheel? If not, I wouldn't worry about that inch. It won't make any difference in tire size nor appearance. In fact, it might look better putting a 245 on a 9" in front opposed to a 275 on a 9" in the rear. That's what I did and was pleased with the appearance. Except I used a 255 40 front and a 275 40 rear.
