the ls i just bought has a scratch on the bumper the paint is chipped off along the scratch and there is the slightest indentation on the scratch. The dealer took off a GOOD amount of money to compensate, he also said he was going to touch up the chipped paint. So i asked the sales man can you fix the indentation? he said he can't cause the bumper is plastic and it will probably just break and the only option is to buy a whole new bumper. Is this B.S. cause he doesn't want to fix it or is it true also does anyone know where i can get a 03+ oem bumper (not the lse) and how much?

thanks

A good body shop or even a contractor who comes to the lots and touches up cars that have scratches or rock chips can do it for under $100. Where I work, we have a company called "Chip Shot" who comes in and touches up problem areas and the results are good. Otherwise, we send it to a body shop that specializes in these sorts of things and I got my bumper repainted for $45. You don't need a new bumper..........that would be a waste of money. Just take it to a body shop and tell them you need that area painted..........I can almost guarantee it won't be over $100.

hey dls8k, does that "chip shot" company just paint over the rock chips or actually fill them in....and that $100 figure is not including the indentation is it?

The chip shot company actually fills them and and sands them over and clear coats it. The indentation you speak of.......take a picture of it and let me look. Let me put it this way. I had to get my rear bumper painted because someone had tried to take a sticker off with a razor blade and gouged out some of the plastic........it was about the size of my fist (pretty bad, huh?). Well, I got half of my back bumper painted and body work done for $45. Even though I knew the guy who did it and was a friend who gave me a deal, if you were to get it done I will still say you could get it done for under 100. For such a small area to paint and prep, I couldn't see how they could be much over that.

ok, put your finger on the very beginning (on your left) of the left chrome strip now follow your finger down to about the middle of the bumper. if you look closely you can see it...btw i thought if you paint one side of the bumper you would have to paint the other so the paint can match

Well, I see the problem and that should be an easy fix. You don't have to paint the entire bumper either. Most body shops will be able to match your paint pretty well. Just take it to a body shop and get an estimate to get that fixed (and don't listen to them if they tell you you need to repaint the whole bumper). If they can't spot that in, then they aren't worth doing the business with. Also important to note that if they painted the whole bumper, what is to say its going to match the rest of the car? They will take care of you if you go in there with one thing in mind......bodyshops are like salesmen too......they always want to milk you for a little more.
